Faculty Webinar Series Offers Guidance On Careers in
Law Enforcement, Intelligence, Counterterrorism, and
Protection
(San Jose, CA, December 10, 2009) - Henley-Putnam

webinar, Insider's Guide to Careers in Intelligence
Analysis. The webinar is Part 2 of Henley-Putnam's
exclusive "Insider’s Guide" webinar series, where former
intelligence and law enforcement officers discuss
education and career opportunities in federal law
enforcement, intelligence, terrorism and
counterterrorism, and personal protection.
Author and adjunct professor Thomas B. Hunter will lead
Insider’s Guide to Careers in Intelligence Analysis,
which takes place Thursday, December 17, from 11:00 AM -
12:00 PM PST. Prior to joining Henley-Putnam, Mr. Hunter
served as a senior intelligence officer with the Defense
Intelligence Agency (DIA), where he specialized in a
variety of analytical areas, including Homeland
Security, terrorist tactics, hostage rescue, Detainee
Support, and South American narcoterrorism.
"Intelligence analysis is one of the most in-demand
careers in the entire intelligence community," said Mr.
Hunter. "Fortunately, it also offers many individuals,

During the webinar on December 17, Mr. Hunter will
provide an introduction to careers in intelligence
analysis, including a discussion of counterterrorism,
human factors in terrorism, weapons systems, detainee
support, Homeland Security, and counterdrug
intelligence. He will also offer a breakdown of the
different agencies and their missions, including the DIA,
and explain the "need-to-know" process (along with other
related dynamics), language skills, and what those
interested in the profession should know about
background clearance checks for analysts.
Insider's Guide to Careers in Intelligence Analysis will
take place Thursday, December 17, from 11:00 AM - 12:00

ABOUT THOMAS B. HUNTER
Thomas B. Hunter served as an intelligence analyst with
the Defense Intelligence Agency specializing in Homeland
Security, Detainee Support, and Latin American
narcoterrorism. While serving in the Weapons and Tactics
Branch, Mr. Hunter specialized in analysis of terrorist
tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP). Mr. Hunter
has written for such publications as Jane’s Intelligence
Review, Jane's International Police Review, and U.S.
Naval Institute Proceedings. He has published over 100
articles on a variety of counterterrorism and security
subjects and served as the editor of the peer-reviewed
Journal of Strategic Security and the Journal of
Counterterrorism and Homeland Security International.
Mr. Hunter holds a Masters Degree in Unconventional
Warfare from the American Military University, a Masters
Degree in International Security Studies from the
University of St. Andrews, Scotland, and an
undergraduate degree in English and American Literature
from the University of Southern California. He is
currently an adjunct professor at Henley-Putnam
University.
